Written by Roddy Lee

It was a beautiful sunny Summer's day so Roddy The Rooster and his friends Cassie The Carpetsnake and Joe The Jolly Jumbuck went for a stroll around the farmyard to say hello to all the animals.

Roddy saw Penny and Pixie Piglet. "G'day Penny. G'day Pixie," said Roddy.

"Oink, Oink, G'day Roddy" said the two little pigs in chorus together.

Roddy, Cassie and Joe saw Mr Horse in his stable. "G'day Mr Horse," said Roddy.

And Mr Horse whinnied and neighed with a big happy smile, "G'day Roddy, Cassie and Joe".

Roddy and his friends walked past Mrs Cow. Mrs Cow was chewing on some fresh green grass but managed to reply to Roddy's familiar greeting.

"Mooo. Mooo. G'day friends," said Mrs Cow between chews.

Desmond Duck was sitting on the wooden fence nearby.

"Quack, Quack, come here," called Desmond.

Roddy, Cassie and Joe walked over to Desmond Duck. "G'day Desmond," said Roddy.

"G'day Roddy," replied Desmond, "isn't it a beautiful day."

"Yes it is," said Roddy, "and a good day for a song."

The suggestion made Desmond very excited. He loved singing. "Quack, Quack," squawked Desmond loudly, "that would be great."

And no sooner had Desmond, Roddy, Cassie and Joe started singing and all the other animals joined in.

Penny and Pixie sang the high parts, along with Mrs Cow.

Mr Horse and Joe The Jolly Jumbuck sang the low parts because they had very deep voices.

And Desmond Duck, Roddy The Rooster and Cassie The Carpetsnake sang the middle parts.

"Ging, Gang, Gooli," they all sang as loud as they could. What a great song!

Everyone had a part to sing and everyone sung their part the best they could.

And when the song was finished Roddy, Cassie and Joe went on their way to cool off in the shade under a coolabah tree. Singing with their friends had been great fun but right now they were very hot.

Kids, if you are outside in the sunshine don't forget to put on plenty of sunscreen and wear a hat to protect yourself from the sun.

See you next month.
