| Written by Roddy Lee The moon was barely visible over Tumbledown Creek that night. Roddy The Rooster & his friends had turned out the lights and tucked into their beds for the night. All was silent until one of the Cheeky Chicks spoke up, "I can't sleep!" she cried. "Neither can I," cried another. Soon, all the chicks were chorusing the same. Roddy The Rooster jumped off his coop and joined the little chicks on the floor covered with hay. "C'mon, little chicks," he said, "I'll sing you my favourite lullaby." A voice came out of the dark, it was Cassie The Carpetsnake, "It sure puts me to sleep!" So, ever so quietly, Roddy began his song. I can't keep my eyes open anymore ![]() And by the end of the song the Cheeky Chicks were fast asleep. Roddy carefully lifted himself back onto his coop, and to the chicks he whispered, "Wake you in the mornin'!", and then prompty fell into a deep sleep.
