Written by Roddy Lee

Mrs Hen ran out of her coop and into the farmyard.

"Someone's stolen my eggs," she cried out loud.

Roddy The Rooster, Cassie The Carpetsnake, Joe The Jolly Jumbuck and all the other farmyard animals gathered around to listen to Mrs Hen's story.

"My eggs were there last night when I went to sleep but this morning they have all gone. All six of them!!"

Roddy The Rooster told Mrs Hen not to worry - "We'll find your eggs and get to the bottom of this story."

The other farmyard animals agreed to help so they headed off in all directions to find out what they could about the disappearing eggs.

The search went all day long.

Cassie asked Old Mr Wombat if he knew where Mrs Hen's eggs were, but he did not.

Joe The Jolly Jumbuck asked a mob of kangaroos grazing on the hillside near the farmyard - but they didn't know either.

Penny and Pixie Piglet asked Mrs Fieldmouse if she had seen the eggs, but she had no idea what had happened to them.

That night all the animals returned to the farmyard but none were the wiser.

That night Mrs Hen had a pretty bad night's sleep worrying about her lost eggs.

It was dawn when the farmyard woke up to the sound of Billy The Easter Bunyip.

"Come out, everyone, come out and see!!" yelled Billy.

Roddy The Rooster, Mrs Hen and all the farmyard animals scrambled outside to see Billy The Easter Bunyip. At Billy's feet were six little fluffy chicks.

"Mrs Hen," said Billy, "I think these chicks might be yours!"

And Billy The Easter Bunyip was right.

The chicks all ran to Mrs Hen's feet as Billy explained, "I was collecting Easter Eggs the night before last and I picked up your eggs mistaking them for chocolate eggs. And, bless my soul, they hatched right before my eyes. Sorry for the mistake, Mrs Hen."

Mrs Hen was so happy that she couldn't be angry with Billy The Easter Bunyip. After all, it was an honest mistake!

Roddy The Rooster invited Billy to stay for breakfast but he had to say no. "I have all these Easter Eggs to deliver," Billy explained.

And before he left he gave each and every one of the farmyard animals an Easter Egg.

"Happy Easter!!" yelled Billy The Easter Bunyip.

"Happy Easter Billy!" yelled all the animals.

And Billy hopped over the hill to continue his Easter deliveries.
