| Written by Roddy Lee It was early evening at Roddy The Rooster's farm and all the animals had gathered inside Roddy's barn for the Tumbledown Creek New Year's Dance. Throughout the day the barn had been decorated by Penny &Pixie Piglet with a little help from Desmond Duck. Colourful balloons and streamers adorned the barn and Desmond had hung a big banner proclaiming the occasion. Joe The Jolly Jumbuck had set up the tressle tables and mixed a big fruit punch in a large drum. Mrs Cow had made the supper - a selection of delicious sandwiches and shortbreads. And now the annual dance was underway. Throughout the night all the animals joined in for the square dance, the foxtrot, the Lambeth walk and the waltz. It was late in the night when Roddy The Rooster announced through his big red loud hailer, "Time for a new dance!" All the animals listened as Roddy explained, "Recently I learned a new dance that I have called Do The Monkey!" The little Cheeky Chicks looked up to Roddy The Rooster and one of them asked, "What's a monkey?" As Roddy explained, monkeys lived in jungles around the world. There are all sorts of monkeys:- baboons, apes, gorillas and chimpanzees. They love swinging through trees and eating bananas. ![]() The monkey dance, that Roddy The Rooster wanted to teach all the farm animals, told the story of a chimpanzee called Yo Ho. As Roddy went on to say, "Yo Ho the Chimpanzee thought he was human and Yo Ho loved to copy what humans did. It was on one particular day that a human called Cool Colin walked into the jungle and came face to face with Yo Ho the Chimpanzee." "Do humans get along with monkeys?" asked one of the Cheeky Chicks. "Yes, they do, they sure do," said Roddy The Rooster, "and Cool Colin soon found that every move he made Yo Ho the Chimpanzee would copy." Now after a while of copying each other Cool Colin and Yo Ho had come up with a new dance and Roddy wanted to teach all the animals this cool new dance. Roddy continued, "So what you have to do is this":- ROLL TO THE RIGHT THROW YOUR ARMS IN THE AIR WITH ALL OF YOUR MIGHT Well, what fun! In no time at all the farm animals were leaping to the left and rolling to the right and throwing their arms in the air with all of their might. And Do The Monkey they danced all night into the break of dawn. Time flies when your having fun, and boy, this was fun. The Tumbledown Creek New Year's Dance had been a complete success and only finished when Roddy left the barn to make his familiar morning call. B'WARK!! See you next year when we'll dance the night away once again! "Do The Monkey" Words & Music by Roddy Lee Copyright © 1997 - 2003 Rooster Music Have a listen to the MP3 preview.
