Written by Roddy Lee

"AH-CHOO, AH-AH-AH-CHOOO!"

It was late afternoon on Roddy The Rooster's farm when Roddy looked out his barnyard window to see who was sneezing.

"AH-CHOO!!"

The sneezes were coming from Penny & Pixie Piglet's pig pen.

"Is that you, Penny?" called Roddy.

"No," came the reply, "It's Pixie. She's got a cold."

Poor Pixie Piglet! When Roddy The Rooster came over to the pig pen he saw Pixie wrapped in her blanket, shivering and sniffling. Her nose was red and her teeth chattered. "I-I-I'm n-n-not very well, W-w-w-roddy!"

Penny Piglet told Roddy The Rooster the story of how Pixie got her cold.

"Last night Pixie and I were down at Tumbledown Creek. I was sitting on the bank watching Pixie swim when suddenly the winds of the change of seasons blew through the valley."

"Yes," said Roddy, "It did get very windy last night. The wind was so strong it blew my barndoor near off it's hinges!"

"Well," continued Penny, as Pixie sneezed again, "Pixie got out of the creek and we ran all the way back to the farm and when we got back to the farm we were so exhausted that we fell asleep straight away - Pixie in her wet swimming costume on her wet towel."

Pixie Piglet sneezed again, "AH-CHOO! I-I-I sh-sh-should have dried myself and h-h-hung up my t-t-towel. Now I-I-I've got a c-c-cold!"

Roddy The Rooster felt sad for Pixie and told her that she and Penny could stay in the barn until Pixie got better. "It's too cold out here. Come and keep warm in the barn," said Roddy.

Cassie The Carpetsnake and Joe The Jolly Jumbuck were singing a song when Roddy The Rooster arrived in the barn with Penny and Pixie.

"Hello Penny. Hello Pixie." said Cassie and Joe.

"AH-CHOO!!" said Pixie Piglet.

Roddy explained to Cassie and Joe that Penny and Pixie would be staying in the barn until Pixie got over her cold. "It's too windy outside!" said Roddy The Rooster.

"That's what I wanted to ask you," said Joe The Jolly Jumbuck. "Could I stay here tonight because the breezes blowing through the grasses freezes my knees-es."

"Alright!" said Roddy, "Everybody stays!"

Later that night....

"SNORE!"

"Zzzzzz!"

"AH-CHOO!!"

Roddy and his friends slept through the night as the winds of the change of seasons continued to blow through Tumbledown Creek valley.

"BWARK!!"

It was early morning as Roddy The Rooster heralded in the new day.

One by one the animals woke and as they spoke each of them croaked.

"AH-CHOO!"

Oh no, everyone had caught Pixie Piglet's cold!

The sneezing and sniffling could be heard all over the farmyard and soon Mrs Hen & Her Chicks, Desmond Duck, Mr Horse and Mrs Cow were at Roddy The Rooster's barndoor looking at their sick friends.

For three days Desmond Duck nursed his sick friends whilst Mrs Hen and Mr Horse made soups and broths which Mrs Cow and the Chicks delivered to the patients in the makeshift hospital ward that they setup in Roddy The Rooster's barn.

By the fourth day Roddy and his friends were feeling much better. Pixie Piglet had stopped sneezing too.

"Thank you, dear friends," said Roddy The Rooster, "Because of your care we are all well again."

"And thank you, Roddy," said Pixie, "You cared for me and shared your home when I was sick even though it made everyone else sick!"

Roddy The Rooster smiled at all his friends, "That's okay, Pixie, that's what friends are for. To care and share."
